  1. I really like the posters you have chosen for inspiration.I like how you’ve done a mixture of male and female magazines, for the ‘Man About Town’ magazine I like how simple the background is and the colours that are used they it draws attention to the central image, I also like the use of different fonts that are used for the celebrity on each cover as it give it a different dimension. For the VOGUE magazine I personally like the Lizzo one as background and image itself is monochrome, however they have used the blue, red and yellow colour effect that makes the image look like an old 3D/holographic print. The ‘Men’s Journal’ Magazines could link to Stuart Hall’s theory of reception as he believes texts are encoded and decoded, audience members decode media texts for example ‘Men’s Journal’ Magazine may have Negotiated reading , meaning that the audience who buy this magazine may be the same age as the celebrities who are featured on the front page however the media form is complex and inhabits full understanding but can also be interpreted in your own way. Over all, everyone of these magazines can link to David Gauntlett’s theory of identity, he asserts that the mdeia provides us with the ‘tools’ that we use to construct our identites meaning we ‘pix and mix’ which aspect of these products we want to use in our own identity. All these magazines have an array of different celebrities which could be seen as role models for the audience/buyers of the magazine, Gauntlett also talks about how the media today offer a more diverse range of stars than we did in the past and your choice of magazine covers shows this.
